Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System

System Description and Procedure for Scheduling Occupied Times and Space

System Description:

With the completion of the new Lobby, Gathering Area, Elevator , and Remodeling of the Office Space, which also included the Renovation of the Existing Electrical System, a New Boiler for Heating and a New Chiller for Air Conditioning, will require a different approach to scheduling events.

The previous On-OFF Boiler or Chiller is now controlled by a Central Controller that is accessed by a Computer here at the Church or can be accessed from a Remote Location through a dedicated phone line.

This Central Controller has many sensors that measure and record, the space temperature of each of the Five (5) New Air Handling Units (AHU), the Sanctuary and Social Hall space temperature, outside air temperature, Boiler and Chiller supply and return water temperature, and many other sensor inputs.  The New System has BOTH THE BOILER AND CHILLER ACTIVATED as opposed to the previous Boiler = ON  / Chiller = OFF or Boiler = OFF / Chiller = ON system. The sensors report to the controller and the controller makes the decision what is needed to maintain the set space temperature. As we “Learn” the new building, we may need to make minor adjustments to the space temperature requirements.

The HVAC Controller has sensors that will bring on a specific AHU , the Sanctuary FCU or the Social Hall FCU for the “Un-Occupied” times which will not let the building get too cold during the Heating Season to keep pipes from freezing. The “Un-Occupied” System “ON” also minimizes the time for the space to be conditioned when the space is scheduled for “Occupied Mode”. This is similar to a “Night Set Back System” or when you may cut the heat back when you go to bed.

This new system does not take as long to condition the space, and will adjust itself if the conditions change during the “Occupied Time”. This will save operating dollars in the Electric Bill and Gas Bill. Note: We also have added additional square feet in floor space.

Procedure for Scheduling “Occupied” Times and Space:

General Notes:

  • If you will be using the Gathering Area, Sanctuary, Social Hall Areas you will need to follow this procedure. If you are using the other areas of the Church all of those areas have there own system that is controlled by a Thermostat like in your home. If you move the Thermostat Switch from “OFF” to either “Cool” or “Heat” you are responsible to cut the Thermostat Switch back to “OFF”.
  • The Social Hall Areas include the Kitchen, the Nursery Area, and the Class Rooms all served by the ceiling Fan Coil Units (FCU).
  • As we get use to the new entrance, it will be used more and more and when you schedule the “Occupied” time for either the Sanctuary or Social Hall Areas, the Lobby and the Gathering Space will also be conditioned.
